Projections: Get Ready for More ‘Social’-ism

24 Jan, 2011 By: John Latchem

With its strong awards-season performance, including a high-profile Golden Globes win, The Social Network is in a prime position to finish atop the sales and rental charts a second consecutive week.

The title with the best chance of usurping it for the week ending Jan. 23 is another Sony disc, Takers, which grossed $57.7 million in domestic theaters.

Also competing for a top five spot are Lionsgate’s thriller Buried, released only as a Blu-ray/DVD combo option, and Universal’s direct-to-video prequel Death Race 2.
