Projections: 'Gangster Squad' Seeks to Take Over Chart
29 Apr, 2013 By: John Latchem
Among a slate of modest April 23 new releases, Warner's Gangster Squad seems to have the biggest clout to put it in line to debut atop the sales charts. It scored just $46 million at the domestic box office, but is also the centerpiece of most retail promotions for the week.
Not far behind, in terms of box office, is Universal's A Haunted House, which earned $40 million.
The big question for both titles will be how much Anchor Bay's Django Unchained can maintain its sales momentum after a very successful debut week.
With the major new releases being from studios that embargo titles for rental kiosks, Django should repeat atop the rental chart.
