Projections: 'End of Watch' Aims for Top Spot28 Jan, 2013 By: John Latchem
After an avalanche of new releases the first few weeks of the year, Jan. 22 represented a bit of a slowdown, with most of the debut titles being light-performing theatricals or direct-to-video offerings. As such, don’t be surprised if Fox’s Taken 2 tops the charts again. But, if any of the new titles is going to climb to No. 1, it will be Universal’s cop drama End of Watch, which took in $41 million at U.S. theaters.
A lack of major titles debuting for rent or coming off their embargo should let holdovers such as Universal’s Pitch Perfect stay on top another week.
