Projections: 'Draft Day' on the Clock

8 Sep, 2014 By: John Latchem

Lionsgate's Draft Day is the most prominent new release among a light slate of Sept. 2 new releases, making it the best contender for the top spot on the disc sales charts the week ending Sept. 7. The football drama grossed just $28.8 million at the domestic box office, but offers a lot of elements that should appeal to home video shoppers, and its release timing the week the NFL season starts doesn't hurt.

Sony Pictures' The Amazing Spider-Man 2 should take a high chart spot as well in its third week, despite being edged on the charts a week earlier by Warner's Blended.

The rental chart should find Draft Day near the top spot, as well as Sony Pictures' Moms' Night Out.
