Projections: 'Django' to Blow Away Competition

22 Apr, 2013 By: John Latchem

Anchor Bay’s Django Unchained should easily top the sales charts the week ending April 21. Its $162.7 million cume at the domestic box office is the highest ever for a Quentin Tarantino film, and it arrives as the highest-profile new release thus far in the second quarter.

That freshness should also push Django Unchained to the top of the rental chart during a week that also sees previously embargoed titles such as Warner’s The Hobbit: An Enexpected Journey and Universal’s Les Misérables and This Is 40 arrive in kiosks.
