Projections: 'Dark Skies' Hopes To Light Up Charts3 Jun, 2013 By: John Latchem
The post-Memorial Day week looks to be a slow one for home video, with a scarcity of major new releases to drive sales.
Amazon shoppers seem to prefer the latest release of “Doctor Who” on DVD and Blu-ray, though that has received little attention among the brick-and-mortar retailers.
The top new theatrical for the week is Anchor Bay’s Dark Skies, a sci-fi thriller that pulled in a modest $17.4 million at U.S. theaters.
Among rentals, Fox’s Broken City comes off its kiosk embargo and should top that chart.
