Projections: 'Battleship' May Sink Competition

3 Sep, 2012 By: John Latchem

Universal’s Battleship should outperform the other Aug. 28 new releases. But with only a $65 million take at the domestic box office, Battleship may not have the steam to overpower Lionsgate’s The Hunger Games, which continues a strong performance after two weeks.

Among other new releases, Sony Pictures’ Think Like a Man was the top box office performer with $91.5 million, while Warner’s The Lucky One ($60.5 million) should appeal to fans of romance and Sony’s The Pirates! Band of Misfits ($31.1 million) will grab the attention of kids and families.
