Projections: All About 'Alice'

7 Jun, 2010 By: Kelly Burner

Two big-budget new releases came to disc June 1: Disney’s live-action Tim Burton production of Alice in Wonderland, which stars Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter and brought in more than $330 million in domestic theaters, and Universal’s The Wolfman, which starred Benicio Del Toro and Anthony Hopkins and earned nearly $62 million in theaters.

The sure victor will be Alice, grabbing a triple victory as the top-selling DVD, top-selling Blu-ray Disc and top rental for the week ended June 6. Wolfman should be able to land second place.

Also released June 1 was the documentary Life from the creators of the best-selling Blu-ray Planet Earth, and the third season of the hit series “Burn Notice.” Both should do well on the sales charts, while Life should fare especially well on the Blu-ray charts, landing as high as No. 2.
