Projections: '300' Seeks to Establish Disc Empire30 Jun, 2014 By: John Latchem
Warner's 300: Rise of an Empire will look to overcome The Lego Movie, also from Warner, on the home video sales charts the week ending June 29. The stylistic action sequel grossed $106.6 million in U.S. theaters, about half of the original 300, but its appeal to the fanboy crowd should fuel a significant first-week sales bump.
Otherwise, The Lego Movie should continue to perform well after debuting in the top spot a week earlier.
With the major new releases unavailable at Redbox for 28 days, the previous top titles — Fox's 3 Days to Kill and Paramount's Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit — should hold over. The biggest title coming off its 28-day holdback is Warner's Endless Love.
