Projections: ‘Social Network’ Primed for Win

17 Jan, 2011 By: John Latchem

Already building momentum toward best picture Oscar laurels, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment’s The Social Network is poised to become the top selling and renting home video title its first week in stores.

Also looking to attract attention is Sony’s horror remake Piranha 3D, a cult film that should see significant action on the Blu-ray Disc chart.

The week’s only other new release, Lionsgate’s animated Alpha and Omega, should fare decently as well.

Among rental titles new to Redbox and Netflix as of Jan. 11 are Universal’s Despicable Me and Fox’s The A-Team.
