Projections: ‘Sex’ Positioning for Top Spot

1 Nov, 2010 By: John Latchem

Given its built-in audience, Warner Home Video’s Sex and the City 2 should have no trouble securing the top spot on the national sales chart its first week in stores.

The previous week’s top-selling title, Paramount/DreamWorks’ How to Train Your Dragon, should slide into the No. 2 spot.

Strong early interest in Universal’s new Back to the Future: 25th Anniversary Trilogy boxed set could be enough to propel it to a high spot on the charts, perhaps in the No. 3 position, which would represent a strong showing for a boxed set.

Other recent hit films such as Paramount’s Iron Man 2 should continue to perform well.

On the rental chart, strong overall interest in Dragon could find it atop the chart again, holding off a surge from new-to-Redbox Get Him to the Greek and a second week of wide availability for Robin Hood.
