Projections: ‘Lost’ Should be Found at No. 1
30 Aug, 2010 By: Kelly Burner
It was a light week for new theatrical releases, with only one major title debuting on disc Aug. 24 and a couple that barely made a dent at the box office. From Sony Pictures came the romantic comedy The Back-Up Plan, starring Jennifer Lopez, which earned $37.5 million in domestic theaters.
With only one major theatrical release due, the charts for the week ended Aug. 29 should be dominated by TV DVD releases. Aug. 24 Disney bowed the final season of the hit series “Lost,” Fox came out with the thirteenth season of “The Simpsons,” Warner released the third season of “Gossip Girl,” and Paramount debuted the seventh season of “NCIS.”
While The Back-Up Plan should land at first place on the weekly top rental chart, sales of the sixth season of ‘Lost’ should easily place it on the top of the weekly sales chart.
