Projections: ‘Date Night’ Set to Score on Disc

16 Aug, 2010 By: Kelly Burner

A couple of high-profile new releases came to disc Aug. 10. At the head of the queue was Fox’s comedy Date Night. The comedy raked in nearly $100 million in domestic theaters. From Sony Pictures came another comedy, Death at a Funeral ($42.7 million), a remake of the 2007 British title of the same name.

Date Night should score an easy victory on all three major charts for the week ended Aug. 15, supplanting last week’s triple-victor, Lionsgate’s Kick-Ass, and pushing it to No. 2. Death at a Funeral should land at third.

Also released Aug. 10 were Fox’s drama My Name Is Khan ($4 million), Vivendi’s drama Letters to God ($2.8 million), and Fox’s comedy The Joneses ($1.5 million), starring David Duchovny and Demi Moore.
