Projections: ‘Clash’ Should Rule the Charts

2 Aug, 2010 By: Kelly Burner

After a slow couple of weeks in packaged media, things are finally heating up. July 27 Warner came out with its blockbuster fantasy hit Clash of the Titans, a remake of the 1981 cult classic of the same name, which earned more than $163 million in theaters. With a theatrical pedigree of that caliber, Clash of the Titans should have no problem landing first place on the charts for the week ended Aug. 1.

Also released July 27 was Universal’s sci-fi actioner Repo Men ($13.8 million), starring Jude Law and Forest Whitaker as organ repossessors in the distant future, and Warner came out with the direct-to-video animated feature Batman: Under the Red Hood. While Repo Men should make a fair showing on the national rental charts, debuting as high as No. 5, Batman should do well in the sales arena, landing as high as No. 3 on Nielsen’s national top DVD sellers chart.
