Projections: ‘Avatar’ Hard to Beat on Sales Chart

3 May, 2010 By: Kelly Burner

Universal’s romantic comedy It’s Complicated ($112.7 million), starring Meryl Streep, Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin, was the highest box office grossing new release coming to DVD and Blu-ray Disc the week ended May 2. Trailing was Sony Pictures’ fantasy The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus ($7.7 million), starring Johnny Depp and the late Heath Ledger.

The remainder of new releases was relatively light by comparison.

It’s Complicated may be able to snag the No. 1 spot on the national top rentals chart for the week, but the top selling DVD and Blu-ray disc should still be Avatar for a second week running.
