'Jack Ryan' Tops British Video Charts

Paramount Home Media Distribution’s Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit topped the British video sales charts, selling 57,000 discs (Blu-ray and DVD) in its first week at retail through June 7, according to the Official Charts Co.

The actioner starring Chris Pine and Keira Knightley hits U.S. retail today (June 10). Ryan generated $135.5 million at the global box office.

Other new releases included Dallas Buyers Club (Entertainment One), starring Oscar winners Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto, in 4th place with 44,000 discs sold; romantic comedy That Awkward Moment (eOne) starring Zac Efron in 7th spot with 21,000 discs sold; and Lionsgate’s Out of the Furnace, which sold 15,000 discs, in 9th position as reported by Cue Entertainment.

Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment’s animated classic Sleeping Beauty, which has been on the British charts for 119 weeks, moved into the 5th spot with 28,000 discs sold following the theatrical launch of Maleficent with Angelina Jolie.

Other titles in the Top 10 included Universal Studios Home Entertainment’s The Wolf of Wall Street in second place; Disney’s Frozen in the third spot with 47,000 discs; 12 Years a Slave (eOne) in the 6th spot; I, Frankenstein (EIV) in 8th position, and 21 Jump Street (Sony Pictures Home Entertainment) in 10th.

Year-to-date, Frozen remains the top-selling disc in the U.K. with more than 1.9 million units sold, followed by Warner Home Video’s The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug with 1 million units, and Lionsgate’s The Hunger Games: Catching Fire with 838,000 discs sold.
