Fox's Independence Day: Resurgence benefitted from a slow week for new releases to claim the top spot on the home video sales charts for a second consecutive week.

The week ended Oct. 30 saw the sequel take No. 1 on the NPD VideoScan First Alert sales chart, which tracks combined DVD and Blu-ray Disc unit sales, and the dedicated Blu-ray Disc sales chart.

The Halloween season helped Disney's Hocus Pocus, a popular catalog title, jump to No. 2 overall, selling 68% as many copies as IDR.

Sony's Ghostbusters: Answer the Call held steady at No. 3 on First Alert, followed at No. 4 by the highest-performing new release, Warner's Lights Out.

A critically lauded horror film, Lights Out also proved a box office success, earning $67.3 million at the domestic box office against a budget of $4.9 million.

On the Blu-ray chart, Lights Out mustered only a No. 7 debut, with the high-def format accounting for 34% of the title's total unit sales.

Ghostbusters: Answer the Call was the No. 2 Blu-ray, followed by Disney's Alice Through the Looking Glass at No. 3 and Fox's X-Men: Apocalypse at No. 4.

Warner's The Legend of Tarzan dropped a slot to No. 5 on both charts.

On Home Media Magazine's rental chart, Warner's Central Intelligence and Fox's Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates came off their 28-day holdbacks from Redbox kiosks to take No. 1 and No. 2, respectively. The previous week's top rental, Ghostbusters: Answer the Call, dropped to No. 3.

Rounding out the rental chart were two Universal Pictures' titles new to kiosks after a delay: The Purge: Election Year at No. 4 and Warcraft at No. 5.
