DEG, comScore Partner for Digital Entertainment Tracking

DEG: The Digital Entertainment Group and comScore have formed a partnership involving the latter’s market tracking of transactional video-on-demand movies and TV shows.

Utilizing comScore’s “digital download essentials industry” service, the newly dubbed subscription-based DEG-DDEi platform provides movie studios, television networks and distributors with title-level transactional rental and sellthrough data.

The service will give users the ability to compare the performance of their electronic sell-through (EST) and VOD content within the industry to help make more-informed decisions regarding distribution, including windowing, merchandising, acquisitions, marketing and overall digital strategies.

DEG-DDEi also includes set-top box-based VOD activity from comScore's “on-demand essentials” service, which outlines digital market share and title performance.

"DEG-DDEi is a robust reporting tool that delivers timely information on market activity to inform decision making in this rapidly growing segment of the home entertainment business,” Amy Jo Smith, president of DEG, said in a statement.

It wasn’t immediately clear if the DEG will include DEG-DDEi data in its quarterly home entertainment industry report.
