Redbox Donating ‘Shelter Me’ Profits

23 Apr, 2013 By: Chris Tribbey

Redbox will donate the proceeds from the Virgil Films DVD release Shelter Me to Ellen DeGeneres’ Halo Pet Foundation, the kiosk operator announced.

All DVD rentals of the film — which is hosted by actress Katherine Heigl (“Grey’s Anatomy,” Knocked Up) and follows shelter pets helping out various people — from April 23 to 29 will be donated to the foundation, which raises funds for shelter animals.

“We’re honored to support the Halo Pet Foundation and everything they do to promote the well-being of pets and their owners,” said Redbox president Anne Saunders. “We hope all pet lovers take the opportunity to watch Shelter Me this week, and in the process, help us contribute to this important cause.”

Shelter Me was produced and directed by Steven Latham (“NOVA: Saved by the Sun,” “TED: The Future We Will Create”).

“I believe that by working together, we can find good homes for the millions of homeless and abandoned pets out there,” DeGeneres said in a statement.
