Redbox is closing its customer call center in Downer’s Grove, Ill., by mid-summer, retaining a premium customer call service provider for the work instead.
The closure means approximately 200 positions with the company will be eliminated.
“Achieving the best customer service is our top priority,” the company said in a statement. “After considering a number of options, it was determined that using a third-party to manage our customer service operations was the best business decision for the company.
“This decision did not come easily, but it was ultimately the best option for achieving the level of service we need to provide our customers.”
The third-party call center began taking on Redbox work Feb. 15, the company said.
