Gregg A. Kaplan, president and chief operating officer of Redbox parent Coinstar, is taking a temporary leave of absence due to an illness in the family, the company announced Jan. 30.
Kaplan said he expects to return to work in April.
In his stead J. Scott Di Valerio, the company’s chief financial officer, will serve as interim president of Redbox, while Paul Davis, Coinstar’s CEO, will assume the duties of president and chief operating officer of Coinstar, until Kaplan returns.
Coinstar is set to announce its fourth quarter financial results Feb. 6.
In July 2011, Redbox president Mitch Lowe said he will be resigning from the company to pursue “entrepreneurial and other interests,” remaining with the company until a successor could be found.
"We are continuing the search for the next president of the Redbox business,” the company said in a statement. “Our priority is to identify a qualified leader with the right skill set and experience to fill this important position and lead Redbox through the next phase of its growth.”
