The Golden ‘Age’

Hardcore William Shakespeare buffs will want to get their hands on An Age of Kings, a new five-DVD BBC Video set collecting the 1960 miniseries.

The $49.98 set fuses eight of the Bard’s history plays, in 15 hourlong installments, to chronicle the saga of Britain’s monarchy from Richard II to Richard III, with Henry IV, V and VI in between.

Though the sets are minimal and the show was shot on black-and-white video, the acting is impeccable. The cast includes Sean Connery, Judi Dench and Julian Glover (The Empire Strikes Back, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade).
