Vivendi Entertainment Sept. 15 will release Big Pun: The Legacy, a documentary by the Vladar Co. about the life of Grammy-nominated rapper Christopher Rios aka ‘Big Pun,’ as the 10th anniversary of his death approaches.
Big Pun was the first solo Latino hip-hop artist to hit Platinum album sales. The rapper died from a heart attack Feb. 7, 2000.
Also Sept. 15, Legacy Recordings (a division of Sony Music Entertainment) will release a CD featuring music from the film and Big Pun’s greatest hits.
“I hope that the fans will get a chance to remember their idol while watching the film,” said Vlad Yudin, who makes his directorial debut with the film. “All those who are not entirely familiar with his story will get an opportunity to discover the legend.”
The film includes previously unreleased concert footage and video, and features interviews with such hip-hop stars as Snoop Dogg, Jim Jones, Swizz Beats, DMX, Method Man, Raekwon, Redman, XZIBIT, Bone Thugs n Harmony, Ghostface Killah, Prodigy and more. In addition the film features a never-before-released Big Pun song.
The DVD includes deleted scenes, featuring XZIBIT, Raekwon and Snoop Dogg; a making-of featurette; and additional interviews with Big Pun.
