Virgil Teams With B-Side Entertainment

13 Apr, 2009 By: Billy Gil

Virgil Films & Entertainment, the distributor formerly known as Arts Alliance America, has partnered with B-Side Entertainment to release B-Side’s films on DVD.

B-Side uses its proprietary technology and Festival Audience Network, consisting 250 film festival Web sites with 4 million members, to use audience opinion to acquire films. B-Side recently launched a distribution arm, hiring documentary marketing veteran Liz Ogilvie, formerly of Indiepix and Docurama, as VP of marketing.

“B-Side offers a new exciting alternative to the age-old theatrical release of independent product we have lived with for some time now,” said Joe Amodei, president of Virgil Films & Entertainment. “It gives films a chance of being seen, something that is almost impossible to accomplish given the economic realities of today.

“… The extra exposure these films receive will help our DVD sales and rentals.”

B-Side’s first feature-film acquisition is Visioneers, starring Zach Galifianakis.
