Virgil Films Acquires Horror Cult Classic

1 Sep, 2010 By: Thomas K. Arnold

Virgil Films & Entertainment, in association with Off the Wall Video, has acquired worldwide distribution rights to Mad Ron's Prevues From Hell, a 1987 compilation of trailers to 47 horror movies that hasn't been available on home video since its debut that year on VHS.

The 82-minute film has become a cult classic revered by horror fans the world over. Trailers from such films as I Drink Your Blood, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Night of the Living Dead and Three on a Meathook are shown along with an actual storyline introduced by ventriloquist Nick Pavlov and his zombie friend, Happy.

The film, which will be released on DVD Sept. 14 at a suggested retail price of $14.99, was executive produced by Virgil Films president Joe Amodei, who also makes a cameo in the film as a zombie.

"Horror fans fall into a different sector than most film enthusiasts," Amodei said. "There is much more intensity and infatuation than with any other genre. This compilation does not skimp on blood, gore and thrills; it emphasizes everything that is great about horror films. It also is campy and fun in a retro kind of way. This is a perfect party DVD."

Fangoria magazine agrees, noting in a review, "You'll definitely be playing this a second time after the guests leave."
