TLA Announces Award Winners, Reprices Titles for Gay Pride17 Apr, 2009 By: Billy Gil
Gay movie and arthouse film provider TLA Releasing has announced the winners of its “TLA Gives It Away” contest, which was run through its DVD and streaming sites TLAraw.com and TLAvideo.com.
A grand prize of $1,000 and two first place prices of $500 went to members from Oklahoma, Ohio and California. TLA asked its site users to plea for the money, which TLA said it gave away as an “economic stimulus” of its own to help its fans overcome the economic downturn.
“I think I’d probably not spend it for a while — instead, I’d convert it into quarters and Sacajawea dollars, fill a kiddie pool, then swim around like Scrooge McDuck,” read the winning response, from Jeramy of Hulbert, Okla.
TLA gift cards were given to runners-up.
Separately, TLA has repriced titles in celebration of Gay Pride Month in June. Streeting May 19 (prebook April 21) are The Trio, Slutty Summer, Happy Birthday, Circuit, The Wedding Video and Sex/Life in L.A. 2 at $9.99; Keillers Park, The Blossoming of Maximo Oliveros and Amnesia: The James Brighton Enigma will be at $14.99.
