National Geographic will debut its first 3-D home video title with Sea Monsters 3-D: A Prehistoric Adventure, coming to DVD ($19.97) and Blu-ray Disc ($28.99) Aug. 11 from Warner Home Video. Prebook is July 7.

The releases come with four pairs of 3-D glasses, as well as an interactive timeline.

The film covers prehistoric marine animals of the Dinosaur Age, such as Dolichorhynchops; the lizard-like Platecarpus; the Styxosaurus, with paddle-like fins the size of humans; and the monstrous Tylosaurus.

The film is narrated by actor Liev Schreiber and features an original score by Richard Evans, David Rhodes and Peter Gabriel. It was funded in part by a grant from the National Science Foundation.

A video game also is available by Destination Software Incorporated, available on the Sony PlayStation 2 and Nintendo DS and Wii. The film, game and more merchandise surrounding the film can be found at www.nationalgeographic.com/store.
