Miramax, Alliance Renew Canadian Distribution Pact

Miramax March 1 said it renewed a deal with Alliance Films for distribution of catalog and new releases in home entertainment and theatrical channels.

Miramax has a library of more than 700 titles, including The English Patient, Shakespeare in Love, Reservoir Dogs, Chicago, Good Will Hunting, Pulp Fiction and No Country for Old Men.

Alliance has distributed more than 400 Miramax titles on disc and theatrical since 1987. The new deal includes digital distribution as well.

The renewal includes Canadian theatrical distribution for August Miramax releases The Debt, with Helen Mirren and Sam Worthington, and Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark, starring Katie Holmes and Guy Pearce.

The Montreal-based distributor also has equity stakes in recent four-time Oscar winner The King’s Speech, The Woman in Black, Safe, Hobo with a Shotgun, Area 51, Weekender, Goon and Moth Diaries.
