Tyler Perry has made a splash with black audiences, but it seems he’s gaining popularity with Latinos too.
Perry’s latest theatrical film, Madea Goes to Jail, was his most popular movie with Latino audiences to date, says Lionsgate, which distributes Perry’s movies. The studio has taken note and is bumping up the marketing behind the film to Latinos. Lionsgate is doing television spots on Spanish-language channels such as Telemundo and Univision.
The film streets on DVD June 16 (prebook May 20) at $29.95 and comes with Spanish-language subtitles and dubs.
Madea Goes to Jail is about the mischievous grandma Madea, who winds up in jail, where she meets a variety of mixed-up characters.
