Everybody Loves Elmo14 Nov, 2008 By: Kyra Kudick
Genius Products and Sesame Workshop Jan. 6 (prebook Dec. 2) debut Elmo Loves You! on DVD at $14.93 in time to celebrate Valentine’s Day.
Children will learn lessons about love, emotion and friendship when they join Elmo, Rosita and Super Grover on an adventure to find Elmo’s lost surprise card for a loved one.
The DVD includes special musical performances by Trisha Yearwood, John Legend and R.E.M., and kids will learn to sign the words “I Love You” during a new music video.
It would seem everybody wants to be involved in projects with the lovable, furry red monster.
“Celebrities want to be part of Sesame Street,” said Mike Khouri, assistant VP business development, home video and audio for Sesame Workshop. “They come to us and ask ‘can I be on the show?’ ... Jack Black [who appears in an episode this season] is quoted in Parade Magazine as saying, ‘You haven’t truly made it in this industry until you’ve partied with Elmo.’”
Khouri says the show isn’t just for children.
“The show is appealing for care-givers as well,” Khouri said. “It is for everyone — it has such a history for all of us. Parents feel safe with the property — they know the message of it.”
This DVD message begins on the outside of the box, with Elmo holding a big reflective heart.
“Hold it up to you and see,” Khouri said. “Elmo loves YOU!”
