EMA Announces 2009 Home Entertainment Award Nominees

The Dark Knight (Warner), Kung Fu Panda (Paramount/DreamWorks) and War, Inc. (First Look) led the Entertainment Merchants Association’s (EMA) Home Entertainment Awards nominations with four apiece.

Nominees comprised 105 titles over 21 categories. The winners will be announced July 13, 2009. 

Iron Man (Paramount), Let the Right One In (Magnolia), Mamma Mia! (Universal), Transsiberian (First Look) and Wall-E (Disney) each were nominated three times. A complete list of nominees can be found at www.entmerch.org/home_entertainment_awards.html. 
“The current economic climate is causing consumers to aggressively seek out affordable high-quality entertainment, which the home entertainment industry has always delivered,” said EMA president and CEO Bo Andersen. “The exceptional content and value of the titles nominated for this years Home Entertainment Awards are reflected in their popularity.”

Additionally, the EMA has unveiled a new conference, “Digital Media Pipeline ’09: The Business of Digital Entertainment,” to take place at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles Sept. 15. The one-day event invites digital entertainment content owners, service providers and retailers to discuss technologies, business models and other issues regarding digital entertainment.
