Porchlight Home Entertainment Staff Gets Cut6 Apr, 2009 By: Chris Tribbey
Sources confirmed April 6 that Porchlight Home Entertainment president Gary Jones and his home entertainment sales team have left the company. The cuts also reached other parts of Porchlight Entertainment, the sources said.
Porchlight said that while the company will no longer self-distribute, Porchlight titles would continue to be distributed via a third-party distributor. Sources said the label deal should be in place by the end of this month.
Marketing, sales and distribution fulfillment for Porchlight DVD is now being handled by Charles Brunotto, Johnson said.
Porchlight Entertainment co-founder and COO William Baumann left the company in December. However, sources said Porchlight was feeling the squeeze of current economic conditions months prior to that.
The company was founded in 1955 by Baumann and president and CEO Bruce Johnson and has more than 1,500 TV episodes (mostly children’s) and 200 movies in its library. DVD content is also distributed under the Ocean Park Home Entertainment and Porchlight Inspire labels, both of which were launched in 2008.
The company, whose productions had previously been distributed by other suppliers, released its first DVD in November 2007.
