Sony to Bow Bigger PlayStation 3

Sony Corp. Oct. 15 said it would introduce a high-capacity PlayStation 3 video game system beginning Nov. 3, capable of storing high-definition content delivered over the Internet.
The new 250GB PS3 will retail for $349.99. Sony last month cut $100 from the 120GB PS3 to $299.99, which prompted Microsoft to introduce a similar price cut on the Xbox 360.
“Consumers that are coming into the market want to be able to download and own HD movies, large-scale games, those types of things on a hard drive,” John Koller, director of hardware marketing at Sony Computer Entertainment America, told Reuters.
Koller said the 120GB price cut had renewed consumer interest in the platform, which lags behind the Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii in hardware sales.
