Reports: PS3 3D Firmware Delayed to October

2 Sep, 2010 By: Chris Tribbey

A firmware upgrade that will enable 3D playback on the PlayStation 3 has been delayed, according to reports from the IFA 2010 consumer electronics in Berlin.

Sony Corp. CEO Sir Howard Stringer announced the delay during a press conference. He also said Michael Jackson’s This Is It from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment would get an eventual 3D Blu-ray release and would be bundled with future Sony Electronics 3D Blu-ray players and 3DTVs.

“The 3D train is moving forward, speedily and steadily, like China's Harmony Express. And Sony clearly has the strongest engine in this 3D express,” he said in a press release.

He also announced that a Sony HDTV incorporating Google TV technology would be released by the end of the year. Google TV incorporates the Internet into connected devices, beyond the simple applications HDTV manufacturers have included in products thus far.
