Shout! Factory has appointed Jeffrey L. Thompson to the newly created role of VP of digital strategy and business development.
Reporting directly to Shout! Factory co-founder and president Garson Foos, Thompson will oversee development of digital strategies and digital video partnerships. He will be charged with growing the direct-to-consumer distribution of the company’s pop culture library to include mobile, tablet, apps, online and connected-TV platforms as Shout! launches its Video Time Machine app.
“[Thompson] possesses a remarkable track record in the digital media space across a diverse group of established brands,” Foos said of the new hire. “He brings a great deal of digital experience, forward-thinking creativity and leadership. We look forward to [him] playing a big role in the growth of this critical area for the company. We’re currently undergoing significant growth at a time of exciting change in the entertainment industry and technology trends. Sharing pop culture faves that we love across multi-screens is an integral part of our expansion strategy.”
Thompson added: “Shout! Factory has a reputation for curating great classic content, including the successful launch of the Scream Factory brand, and I look forward to helping them take advantage of emerging platforms to allow new audiences to enjoy that content wherever they choose.”
Prior to joining Shout! Factory, Thompson served as VP of digital strategy and business development with Conde Nast Entertainment. He also was the VP of global business development at The Walt Disney Company.
Additionally, Thompson currently serves on the board of advisers for Digital Hollywood and the board of the Congressional Awards Foundation in Washington, D.C.
