Redbox Dec. 18 announced the hiring of two executives — T.J. Moffett, VP of movies, and Bill West, VP of video games — to its Santa Monica, Calif.-based content office, and reporting to Mike Saksa, head of content.
Moffett, who previously held positions at Lionsgate, as SVP of home entertainment marketing, and at Summit Entertainment, as EVP of home entertainment marketing, brings more than 17 years of experience, including five years in theatrical acquisitions. In those roles, he oversaw some of the studios’ biggest franchises: “The Hunger Games” and “The Twilight Saga.”
West comes from Codemasters, an independent video game publisher, where he served dual roles as VP of global corporate strategy and GM.
“Moffett comes to Redbox with a proven track record in successfully overseeing titles through their entire marketing lifecycle, from theatrical release to home video,” Saksa said in a statement. “With our continuing focus on gaming, [West will] work closely with publishers to drive title awareness and trial, while developing our strategy to transition consumers from current to new-generation consoles.”
With more than 541 million rentals as of the end of September, Redbox is the leading provider of paid movie-rental transactions. Redbox’s digital-marketing channels span more than 36 million email subscribers, 26 million app downloads and 5.4 million SMS subscribers.
