DVD rental-by-mail supplier Netflix has promoted Andrew Rendich to chief service and DVD operations officer, responsible for operations engineering, nationwide shipping and receiving, and customer service. He continues to report to Netflix co-founder and CEO Reed Hastings.

Rendich previously served as VP of operations, a position he held since 2007, overseeing Netflix’s 58 distribution centers. Rendich has been with Netflix since 1999, when the company’s subscription model launched.

“DVD operations and customer service are two of the most important ways we touch our more than 10 million subscribers,” Hastings said. “Andy’s expertise and leadership in this area have been a major factor in our ability to scale the Netflix business over the last decade and a principal reason we’re able to delight subscribers day in and day out.”

Rendich will oversee more than 2,500 employees, as well as the company’s relationship with the U.S. Postal Service.
