The National Association of Video Distributors (NAVD) June 5 honored former NAVD executive director Bill Burton with its Larry Hillford Award, in recognition of his long service to NAVD and the video industry.

The award was presented during the 2014 NAVD Business Sessions, the annual B2B gathering of video distributors and studio representatives in Marina del Rey, Calif.

“All of us in video distribution are incredibly indebted to Bill for his leadership of NAVD, his commitment to the success of the video industry, and his friendship,” said NAVD board chairman Bob Webb. “It is so appropriate that he receive the Larry Hillford Award, as no one has done more to support video distribution for the past two decades.”

Burton served as EVP of regional distributor Waxworks for 11 years, and during that time he served on NAVD’s board of directors, from 1986 to 1995. In 1995, he resigned his position at Waxworks to become executive director of NAVD.

Named after video industry pioneer Larry Hillford, the award is giving to those who’ve made a significant impact in the video industry.
