MPAA Adds Technology Executives

20 Sep, 2013 By: Chris Tribbey

The Motion Pictures Association of America (MPAA) has added two new executives to its technology team: John McCoskey as EVP and CTO, and Alex Deacon as SVP of Internet technology.

McCoskey comes to MPAA from PBS, where he served six years as CTO. Deacon joins MPAA after working as chief technologist and distinguished engineer for Neustar Media.

“We are thrilled to welcome John and Alex, both of whom have tremendous experience and insight in their field,” said former Sen. Chris Dodd, MPAA chairman and CEO. “New technology has made it easier than ever to watch your favorite film or television show online, and our studios are relentlessly innovating to develop new options to increase consumer choice. John and Alex will be important voices at MPAA as our industry continues to work closely with the technology community to better serve our shared audience.”

McCoskey will be charged with developing and executing MPAA’s global technology policy. Deacon will focus on building and strengthening relationships within the tech community.
