Lionsgate Hires Peter Levin to Head Video Games Division5 May, 2014 By: Erik Gruenwedel
Expect to see "The Twilight Saga," "Hunger Games" and "Divergent" packaged-media and online video games soon. Lionsgate has hired Peter Levin to the position of president of interactive ventures and games.
The Santa Monica, Calif.-based mini-major, which has successfully captured the teen market with "Twilight Saga," "Hunger Games" and "Divergent" movie franchises, is looking to branch out into the gaming space, including interactive ventures.
Levin, who most-recently headed digital media company Nerdist Industries, is an expert in gaming having consulted for Japanese media giant Yoshimoto Kogyo, MAG Interactive and Rovio Entertainment — whose brands include “Angry Birds.”
"Peter is a perfect fit for our entrepreneurial culture, and he is ideally qualified to lead the continued growth of our content business into the video game space and other interactive digital ventures," Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer said in a statement. "Gaming has become one of the most explosive growth areas of the content business, and Peter's mandate will be to build a portfolio of premium digital properties as we expand our leadership in films and television programming into digital content as well."
Levin reports to Feltheimer and CFO Jimmy Barge in Santa Monica.
