Inception Media Names Steve Saltman Head of TV, Digital Sales21 Jan, 2014 By: Erik Gruenwedel
Inception Media Group Jan. 21 announced it has hired TV industry veteran Steve Saltman to serve as president of its recently formed television and digital division, effective March 1.
Saltman comes from RLJ Entertainment, which owns Image Entertainment — former employer to several Inception executives, including co-founder David Borshell
Saltman will oversee Inception's domestic pay, cable, satellite, PPV, SVOD, VOD and other television transmission sales initiatives. He will also oversee the company’s domestic digital distribution and non-theatrical efforts.
In addition to distributing Inception's proprietary programming, the TV and digital division aggregates third-party content and provides sales and distribution services to producers, content management firms, talent agencies and other independent distribution companies in need of a television and digital sales partner.
The hiring comes on the heels of Inception's recently announced agreement with InDemand for feature film and live-event VOD and PPV distribution. Inception also has agreements in place with retailers including iTunes, Netflix, Amazon Instant Video, VUDU, GooglePlay and Vubiquity.
“Our television and digital division will work with the other divisions of the company to provide a fully integrated approach to content production, acquisition and distribution,” Andy Reimer, managing partner of Inception Media Group, said in a statement.
Before joining Image, Saltman served as VP of First Look Studios, responsible for film sales and licensing of all aspects of television, VOD, non-theatrical and new media/digital. Prior to First Look, Saltman worked in the same capacity for DEJ Productions where he served as VP of worldwide television and new media.
Founded in 1999, DEJ was a subsidiary of Blockbuster before shuttering in 2006.
