CBS Names Marketing Team to Budding Theatrical Unit21 Jan, 2009 By: Erik Gruenwedel
Hollywood studios might be in full-scale retrenchment due to the economy, but that hasn’t stopped CBS Films from hiring a marketing team for its nascent theatrical productions.
Teri Boggess, Cherie Crane and Maggie Schmidt were all named to key senior marketing positions. Boggess and Schmidt previously held marketing positions with Warner Bros., while Crane was a SVP of strategic planning at Sony Pictures.
The CBS Corp. unit plans to develop and produce four to six theatrical releases annually spanning all genres, with production budgets up to $50 million per film.
“They will eventually all be on DVD as well,” said Chris Ender, spokesperson for CBS Films.
Paramount Home Video distributes CBS Home Entertainment releases.
The first project, a medical drama titled Crowley, from director Tom Vaughan, stars Harrison Ford (who also is executive producer) and Brendan Fraser and is slated to begin filming in April and released in 2010.
