Gail Heaney joins as EVP of media
Broad Green Pictures May 27 announced the hiring of former Summit Entertainment executive Gail Heaney as EVP of media. Heaney will oversee media strategies for all theatrical, VOD and home entertainment releases across all platforms.
Heaney joins former Summit colleagues Steve Nickerson, hired in April as president of home entertainment, along with Sandy Friedman and Bobby Gerber — the two hired as EVP of home entertainment operations and SVP of home entertainment sales, respectively.
“[Gail] has successfully executed campaigns at the highest budget levels as well as for challenging specialty films,” Broad Green CEO Gabriel Hammond and Daniel Hammond, chief creative officer, said in a joint statement.
Indeed, while at Summit before it was acquired by Lionsgate, Heaney was EVP of media, working on titles such The Twilight Saga, Divergent and The Hurt Locker.
In a 2009 statement, Nickerson said Heaney’s experience played a big part in the development of Summit’s “unique” home entertainment marketing campaigns.
“Gail is a valuable part of the home entertainment team,” Nickerson said.
Prior to Summit, Heaney worked for the CW Television Network as VP of media strategies, developing campaigns for shows such as “Gossip Girl” and “Reaper.” From 2005 to 2007, she was VP of media for Universal Pictures, where she managed media spending for theatrical and DVD releases, including King Kong, The 40-Year-Old Virgin, and United 93.
