Best Buy Store President Leaving15 Apr, 2014 By: Erik Gruenwedel
Shawn Score, who held the position for seven months, will be replaced by HR boss Shari Ballard
Shawn Score, president of Best Buy’s 1,400 U.S. stores, reportedly is leaving the consumer electronics retailer — just seven months after being named president of the U.S. store operations.
Score, who has been with Best Buy for 29 years, including five years as president of Best Buy Mobile, is being replaced by Shari Ballard, who heads human resources. Ballard retains her HR duties while assuming the new position.
Richmond, Minn.-based Best Buy confirmed Score’s departure without elaborating, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune, which first reported the story.
Best Buy in 2013 slashed more $760 million in operating costs, including cutting 2,000 store managers in February. The chain is coming off a difficult fourth quarter where online competition significantly cut into margins.
