Avery Named to New Position With DreamWorks Animation3 Nov, 2009 By: Erik Gruenwedel
Veteran home entertainment senior executive Kelley Avery has been named to the newly created position of worldwide head of franchise strategy and distribution for DreamWorks Animation SKG.
The move marks a return of sorts by Avery to DreamWorks, where she once ran the non-animation studio’s home entertainment division.
Avery, who was president of Paramount Home Entertainment until leaving the studio in May, will oversee the development of the studio's global franchise plan, including new product and business initiatives, distribution of content on physical and digital platforms, as well as oversight of DreamWorks Animation’s existing home entertainment business.
"With our increased slate of films and our new franchise initiatives, the time is right to bring in an executive of Kelley's considerable talent and experience to help us develop these properties and drive new revenue opportunities across numerous platforms,” DreamWorks Animation CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg said in a statement.
Ann Daly, COO of DreamWorks Animation, said Avery’s 25-year career in home entertainment will help the studio extend its characters beyond the movie screen and onto television, the live stage, online and through exclusive DVD content.
"We are thrilled to have Kelley join us at DreamWorks Animation,” Daly said.
