Alchemy Appoints Guthrie as COO, Brings on Hudak as SVP

Independent film and television distributor Alchemy Sept. 30 named Scott Guthrie as its new chief operating officer to oversee several of the company’s divisions, including strategy and planning, operations, IT and human resources. Guthrie will report to Alchemy CEO Bill Lee.

In conjunction with the hire, Alchemy’s Jim Jenkins has transitioned to the role of EVP of strategic business development and mergers & acquisitions. The company also hired Norbert Hudak to serve as SVP of affinity pods and business development, through which he will develop, acquire and maximize Alchemy's action, horror, faith, family, urban and documentary slates.

“In just under a year Alchemy has grown to be a leading distributor across multiple platforms and we recognized the need to expand our corporate executive team to meet the demands of our burgeoning infrastructure. Scott is the perfect fit for the role with a tremendous background in building profitable global business models throughout his career,” Lee said. “Along with Scott and Jim, who has already proved to be invaluable to Alchemy, Norbert’s addition to the team will further bolster our diverse slate as we continue to expand our presence worldwide.”

Guthrie previously held senior positions with several global entertainment and consumer product companies, including serving as an EVP responsible for the sales and marketing of several home entertainment brands at Paramount responsible for the sales and marketing of home entertainment brands as Paramount.

Jenkins joined Alchemy earlier this year as the company’s SVP of business development and mergers & acquisitions.

Hudak comes to Alchemy after holding the title of SVP of marketing and brand management at Cinedigm Corp, where he was responsible for studio relationships, brand and retail marketing, creative services and theatrical distribution.
