In a first, national vitamin and supplement retailer offers $15 discount on the Michael Bay action comedy when purchasing an item from the new line of nutritional formulas from Mark Wahlberg, who co-stars in ‘Pain & Gain’ with Dwayne Johnson

Paramount Home Media Distribution Aug. 19 said it has partnered with GNC, the health and wellness retailer, to offer consumers discounted DVDs of the new action comedy, Pain & Gain, starring Mark Wahlberg, Dwayne Johnson and Anthony Mackie.

Wahlberg, Johnson and Mackie star as a group of personal trainers in 1990s Miami who, in pursuit of the American Dream, get caught up in a criminal enterprise that goes horribly wrong. The film grossed nearly $50 million at the domestic box office.

The movie retails as a Blu-ray Disc, DVD and digital copy combo on Aug. 27 for $39.99 SRP. The DVD retails separately for $29.99.

The promotion marks the first time GNC has worked with a studio to promote the retail release of a movie, according to Paramount.

Consumers can purchase Pain & Gain on DVD at select GNC locations, as well as at www.gnc.com. In addition, consumers who purchase any “Marked” product (excluding single bars and drinks) — the new line of nutritional formulas from Mark Wahlberg — can save $15 on the Pain & Gain DVD.

Every Pain & Gain Blu-ray and DVD for sale includes an insert with a coupon good for $5 off “Marked” products.
