Paramount to Bow Horror Comedy ‘Ghost Team One’ Simultaneously on Digital and Theatrical16 Sep, 2013 By: Erik Gruenwedel
Paramount Home Media Distribution on Oct. 11 will offer digital access to Ghost Team One, the same day the independent horror comedy is available in select theaters.
Ghost Team One, which was a 2013 Sundance Film Festival selection, follows two friends who are both trying to impress a girl who believes the spirit of a vengeful madam is haunting their home. They set out to make a documentary about a murder that took place in their house decades ago and, much to their surprise, soon capture some terrifying supernatural activity that leads them to believe that the ghost is not only real — she’s also into them.
Paramount is releasing the movie for electronic sellthrough and transactional video-on-demand. No date for packaged media has been announced.
The studio this year upped early digital distribution of select titles, including action comedy Pain & Gain and Star Trek Into Darkness in August.
Ghost Team One co-stars actor-comedian Carlos Santos (host of MTV Tr3s’ “Mi TRL”), J.R. Villarreal (Akeelah and the Bee), Tony Cavalero (“Son of a Pitch”) and Fernanda Romero (“RPM Miami”).
For its theatrical release, Ghost Team One will primarily target college students and the Latino market leading up to Halloween, according to distributor Film Arcade.
