Paramount to ‘Adore’ VOD, Theatrical the Same Day23 Jul, 2013 By: Erik Gruenwedel
Paramount Home Media Distribution July 23 said it will release provocative drama, Adore Sept. 6 on video-on-demand and iVOD, the same day the film bows in theaters. Pricing for the VOD options was not disclosed.
Starring Naomi Watts (The Impossible) and Robin Wright (“House of Cards”), Adore follows two mothers’ plunge into uncharted waters as they explore the intricacies of love, family, morality and passion. Indeed, the lifelong friends become romantically involved with each other’s sons.
The 2013 film (originally titled Two Mothers) marks the English-language directorial debut of Anne Fontaine (Coco Before Chanel) and was written for the screen by Academy Award-winner Christopher Hampton (Best Adapted Screenplay, Dangerous Liaisons, 1988), and based on the novel by Nobel Prize for Literature winner Doris Lessing.
“Adore has a phenomenal cast, a provocative storyline and filmmakers with an outstanding pedigree,” said Amy Reinhard, EVP and GM of Paramount Domestic Home Media Distribution. “We are really looking forward to working in tandem with Exclusive Media to bring this compelling film to a wide variety of platforms for the in-home consumer.”
In addition to VOD, Paramount will distribute the film on disc and via digital sellthrough platforms in the United States and the United Kingdom. The studio will also handle all TV licensing in the U.K. and basic cable sales in the U.S.
Paramount earlier this summer released Brad Pitt zombie thriller World War Z, early in 3D at select theaters, which included the digital copy with UltraViolet. Hollywood studios are currently experimenting with release windows and home entertainment in South Korea.
