Panasonic Unveils 2.1-Channel Blu-ray System

10 Sep, 2009 By: Jordan Harrison

Panasonic Sept. 9 debuted its first 2.1-channel Blu-ray Disc home theater system, the SC-BTX70. The player comes in a sleek vertical design to match a flat-panel TV.

The system delivers 7.1-channel surround sound, using low-density bamboo cones in its two front speakers to expand the listening area.

The design integrates a host of digital media options, including a universal iPod dock, an SD memory card slot and a USB terminal for viewing photos and videos taken with a digital camera.

When the SC-BTX70 is connected to the Internet, Panasonic’s proprietary Viera Cast allows users to visit sites such as YouTube and Amazon VOD.

The system is available at $999.95.
